PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A man walking to a bus stop in Silver Lake was shot during an attempted robbery Friday morning.
At around 7:20 a.m., Providence officers found Orlando Sosa, 48, by 439 Plainfield St. bleeding from a gunshot wound in his leg, said Cmdr. Thomas F. Oates III.
Sosa told police that he was walking from his house to a bus stop on Plainfield Street when a tall, thin man with a goatee and winter mask asked the time. Sosa gave him the time, but refused when the man then asked him for money, Oates said.
The man shot Sosa and ran off down Laban Street.
The description of the gunman was vague. Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call detectives at (401) 243-6406.
