CHARLESTOWN, R.I. -- A 16-year-old walking to Rippy's convenience store on Route 2 at about 9:15 Thursday night was struck by a vehicle that didn't stop, he told the police.
The youth walked home in his stocking feet and told his father that he had been hit on Route 2 near Lauri Drive. He was taken to South County Hospital, where his cuts and bruises were treated, and he was released, Charlestown police reported on their Facebook page.
Based on the injuries and evidence, Charlestown police asked other police departments to watch for a possible suspect vehicle, Charlestown's posting said.
Charlestown police said troopers from the Wickford barracks of the Rhode Island State Police seized a vehicle that may have a connection to the incident. The vehicle was delivered to the Charlestown station for evidence, but state police would not immediately confirm.
Both investigations continue.
