EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A young owl was injured Thursday evening when it hit the windshield of a car on Pawtucket Avenue near Waterman Avenue, a police lieutenant said Friday.
The driver walked into the police station asking for help, Lt. Armen Garo said. The man showed an officer an owl that had cracked the windshield and was impaled on the vehicle's antenna.
Sgt. Mark Norton helped free the owl, which a state environmental police officer then took to a veterinary hospital for medical attention, Garo said.
The small, young owl, Garo said, "was not very wise."
