PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Add another prominent name to the list of those calling for an end to the so-called "master lever" voting option: Rhode Island Democratic Party Chairman Edwin Pacheco.
Pacheco, a former state representative that is currently weighing a run for Secretary of State in 2014, said Wednesday that he has long been "personally" in favor of doing away with the option.
He says the state Democratic Party has not taken an official position on the issue, however.
On Tuesday, Governor Chafee publicly came out in support of ending the straight party ticket voting option.
Rhode Island is one of 16 states that still offers the straight-party-ticket option.
