PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Chafee said Monday afternoon that he has selected a Pittsburgh consulting company to analyze Rhode Island's economic performance and to recommend way the state can improve its business climate.
Fourth Economy Consulting will compile economic data, analyze the state's regional performance and identify possible ways to improve Rhode Island's economy.
As part of a 19-member Rhode Island Sustainable Communities Consortium, the Economic Development Corp., the departments of Environmental Management, and Transportation, and other state, municipal, and nonprofit agencies joined the state Division of Planning to create a base for the state's economic-development efforts.
The state chose Fourth Economy from entities that responded to a request for proposals issued in fall 2012.
