WARWICK, R.I. -- District Court Judge Mary E. McCaffrey on Monday sentenced former Chariho School Committee member Terri Serra to a six-month suspended prison sentence, placed her on six months of probation, and fined her $1,000 for violating the state's social host law.

Finding that Serra had knowingly allowed people under 21 to consume alcohol and marijuana on her Richmond property the night of Oct. 22, 2011, the judge also ordered Serra to perform 100 hours of community service, at least half of which shall involve working with agencies that provide services to those injured by drunken drivers or which provide training to minors or their parents about the dangers of alcohol consumption.
