In the newly created job, Sepe, formerly acting director of public property, now oversees four departments -- public works, parks and recreation, purchasing, and public property -- and serves as the administration's contact person for the Providence Water Supply Board, said David Ortiz, the mayor's press secretary.

The job pays $118,000. Ortiz said the salary is is the same as what John "J.R." Pagliarini earned as the mayor's state government liaison. Pagliarini left his city job this month to become chief of staff for the state Economic Development Corporation.
