PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for northern and western Rhode Island, where several inches of snow may accumulate overnight into Wednesday morning. The advisory is in effect Wednesday from 1 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Snow is expected to begin after midnight tonight, as the temperatures drop to the upper 20s to low 30s.
On Wednesday, snow will mix with sleet or rain at times from early morning to early afternoon.
Accumulations will vary from 2-4" north and west of 295, 1-2" along I-95 including Providence, and a coating along the south shore.
Wednesday temperatures are expected to reach the upper 30's.
A few lingering showers are possible from the afternoon into the evening.
On Thursday, expect partly sunny skies and highs in the mid 40s.
