PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A man whose punch sent another man over a porch railing to his death declined a plea bargain Tuesday in which he would have had to accept two years' imprisonment for involuntary manslaughter.

Juan Hernandez, 31, of 27 Linwood Ave., in the West End, is charged with causing the death of Santiago Hernandez, 35, during a drunken argument at a house at 133 Sterling Ave., Silver Lake, in 2011. They were not related.

In Superior Court, according to the attorney general's office, Juan Hernandez rejected proposed dispositions in which he would acquiesce to a 15-year sentence with four years to serve, and then with two years to serve.

A trial tentatively was set down for as early as April 15.
