PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The man in the puffy jacket near Crossroads Rhode Island asked the college student for a cigarette around midnight Monday -- and then slammed him to the ground.
The man brandished a box cutter and took the student's money, his cell phone, and his New York State driver's license.
The man then warned 19-year-old Nicholas Rautenstrauch: I have your license. If you snitch, I'll kill you.
Rautenstrauch reported the robbery anyway. And, in less than an hour, the police had Tyrone Akion, 31, in custody.
Akion, of 362 Carpenter St., had recently served time for second-degree robbery and was out on probation.
He was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of first-degree robbery and held without bail.
