U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse will work with other members of Congress to ensure President Barack Obama's plans to curb gun violence are adopted, Whitehouse spokesman Seth Larson said Monday.
Whitehouse is travelling with a Senate delegation in Egypt.
"Senator Whitehouse has long supported reinstating the ban on assault weapons and on high-capacity magazines, as well as getting rid of the gun show loophole, all of which President Obama called for today," Larson said. In the coming weeks, "Whitehouse will work with his colleagues on the Judiciary Committee to advance meaningful legislation on these issues."
