PROVIDENCE -- About 50 members of the Gilbert Stuart Middle School protested the transfer of their principal, Jeffrey Goss, who was one of about eight administrators re-assigned to new jobs last week.
Teachers called the move premature because Goss had just arrived in August and there hasn't been time for his reforms to gain traction.
"We want our principal returned to our school in order to maintain the momentum and changes we have made at Stuart," the teachers said in a statement.
Supt. Susan Lusi said last week that the changes were made mid-year to make sure that each school had the best leader for that building. The leadership changes involve schools listed as chronically low-performing.
