Providence Journal photographer Sandor Bodo profiles four Providence bike businesses, who either do their business on a bike or deliver their product to market with a bike trailer.
Tom Olson, owner of Eco Pedicab, pedals between 120 and 300 miles a week as he taxis people around Providence.
Val Khislavsky, who owns PVD Pops, pedals a three-wheeled food cooler with her homemade pudding pops.
Urban farmers Tess Brown-Lavoie, Laura Brown-Lavoie, and Fay Strongin, of Sidewalk Ends Farm, and Than Wood, of Front Step Farm, use bicycle trailers to carry produce to farmers markets and local restaurants. They also collect compost from those restaurants and bike it back to the farm.
Khislavsky, of PVD Pops, says although her hourly rate is not high, she's paying her bills and living comfortably.
