PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Brown University says this year's applications contain a higher percentage of minority applicants than ever before.
The Ivy League school reported Monday that of the nearly 29,000 applications for the class of 2017, 38 percent come from a person who identified themself as a member of a minority.
Brown's applications this year have also set a record for the percentage from overseas.
Applications came from all 50 states and 145 nations. After the U.S., China and India lead the list with the most applications.
The total number of applicants is the third-highest in Brown's history.
The university says it expects about 1,500 students to graduate in the undergraduate class of 2017.
