PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- State police have charged a New Jersey man with obtaining money under false pretenses and related offenses.
Thomas C. Cagle, 49, of Asbury Park, waived extradition to Rhode Island, it was announced on Tuesday by Col. Steven G. O'Donnell, superintendent of state police.
Judge Madeline Quirk set bail at $10,000 pending a future court appearance.
O'Donnell said a person, not identified, filed a complaint against Cagle in October 2011 stating that three rent checks totaling $3,300 bounced. In March 2012 another person, not identified, said Cagle failed to perform marketing duties despite accepting $5,000 to do so.
In July 2012 another victim, not identified, said he transferred $7,500 via wire to Cagle in a business deal, but no work was done.
