Chafee's only announced rival, Democratic former state Auditor General Ernest Almonte, ended 2012 with $161,994, according to his campaign finance filing.
He raised $65,502 and spent $15,671 during the reporting period.
By way of comparison, state General Treasurer Gina Raimondo, a Democrat weighing a bid for higher office in 2014, had nearly $1.1 million in her campaign account as of the end of September.
She was among the possible gubernatorial candidates that have not yet filed their most recent report, which are due Thursday.
Democratic Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and Republican Cranston Mayor Allan Fung are also among those. They had $267,000 and $106,000 as of Sept. 30, respectively.
