PROVIDENCE -- The mayors of Providence and Cranston announced a series of eight targeted job fairs where employers in specific industries -- who have real job openings -- will hold job fairs for unemployed persons in those fields.
The first, aimed at the health care and related industries, will be held at Roger Williams Park's Casino on Feb. 13 from noon to 3 p.m.
"There are jobs available," Providence Mayor Angel Taveras said, but there is a need to connect the jobs with the people who need them.
The announcement for the first fair lists more than a dozen companies and organizations with openings such as home health aids, therapists and teacher assistants.
Cranston Mayor Alan W. Fung said said they will be "a great resource and opportunity for people who are still underemployed or unemployed."
