WARWICK, R.I. -- The state will have no competition in its bid to buy the remainder of the former Rocky Point Amusement park when the matter goes before a federal court judge later this month.
Mark Hayward, district director of the U.S. Small Business Administration, said Monday that the 45-day period for competitive bids closed Friday afternoon and no other bids were submitted.
In an attempt to secure the remaining 82 acres of the shoreline park as open space, the state Department of Environmental Management last fall reached a $9.65 million purchase agreement with the SBA for the land.
The SBA was the court-appointed receiver for the park when it closed.
A hearing on the potential sale is scheduled for Feb. 13 in U.S. District Court.
