JOHNSTON, R.I. -- A 54-year-old Cranston man, already facing charges of stealing the toilet fixtures from nine stores and businesses in Warwick, was arraigned Monday on an additional charge of stealing two automatic flushers valued at $1,726 from a restroom at the McDonald's restaurant at 1377 Atwood Ave.

Police say Christopher Stewart, of 99 Chestnut Hill Ave., Cranston, turned himself in after they determined the man involved in the noontime larceny on Jan. 30 allegedly was the same man charged last week in connection with similar thefts from the Warwick businesses, including two Wendy's.

Flushing units were also stolen from McDonald's restaurants in Lincoln and Providence, according to police.

As with his first arraignment, Stewart was released on personal recognizance pending an April 8 hearing.
