PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Gil Grossman of Providence found himself in a precarious spot: The blue Ford Focus he was driving had slid into deep snow on Elmwood Avenue. Next thing he knew, Governor Chafee and a team of state officials were at the back and front of his car, pushing it.
They tried once. The car didn't budge. Grossman and a passerby shoveled snow from under the car. Grossman got back in, the governor and other officials took up their positions, pushed again, and at last the Ford was free.
Chafee was touring the state and checking with key state agencies to check the progress of storm cleanup and power restoration.
