PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Chafee expects to receive two reports on Wednesday that analyze Rhode Island's economic data and examine issues of economic fairness in the state.
The data collection and evaluation is the first step in Rhode Island's efforts to develop an integrated approach to land use, transportation, housing and economic development. The Pittsburgh-based Fourth Economy Consulting will be paid up to $46,675 for that analysis out of a $1.9 million federal grant won by the Rhode Island Division of Planning.
The planning division has worked with the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation and other state, municipal and nonprofit partners to compare Rhode Island's economy with the rest of New England and to identify ways to improve the state's economic outlook.
