PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Plans to convert a former gas station to an urban farm supply store named CLUCK! at Broadway and Courtland Street on Federal Hill got the go-ahead Wednesday afternoon when the Zoning Board of Review voted 4-to-1 to approve a zoning use variance.
Owner Elias Ayoub and applicant Drake Patten sought the variance to install gardens and sell yard and garden supplies, beekeeping and preserving equipment, farm books, chicken feed and sometimes live chicks and young hens.
Opponents said the change would attract rats and traffic congestion.
