PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence County Grand Jury on Friday indicted Darrell Johnson charging him with the murder of a young father.
Johnston was also charged with discharging a firearm while in the commission of a crime of violence and carrying a pistol without a license.
It is alleged that on July 6, 2012, Johnson shot and killed Joshua Burgo using a firearm he was not licensed to carry. Pawtucket police say Johnson, 20, fatally shot 20-year-old Joshua A. Burgo, a young father who was hanging out with friends behind Nathanael Greene Elementary School in Pawtucket late night on July 6. The Pawtucket police said they think that Johnson had actually meant to kill two other men who were with Burgo, according to an affidavit.
