WARWICK, R.I. -- After two hours of deliberation, a jury Monday found Tony Gonzalez guilty of murdering a man in what prosecutors said was a jealous rage.
The verdict came after the jury heard closing arguments in Gonzalez's trial for allegedly murdering 23-year-old Carl Cunningham Jr. Jan. 22, 2012.
Gonzalez's lawyer cast the state's witnesses, particularly his ex, Patricia Delomba, as liars not to be believed.
Prosecutors acknowledged Delomba might be rude, obnoxious and unlikeable.
"But the one thing she didn't do is lie to you," said prosecutor Maureen Keough.
Prosecutors say Gonzalez came to Delomba's house intending to kill her new boyfriend and killed Cunningham instead.
He is charged with murdering Cunningham and trying to murder Delomba's new boyfriend.
