COVENTRY, R.I. (AP) - Police in Rhode Island have recovered more than $50,000 worth of copper coils that they say were stolen from cellphone towers.
The Coventry Police Department say that the material was found after an officer noticed a suspicious vehicle carrying several large items.
Police say that when they pulled over the vehicle they found copper coils that were stolen from cell towers in East Providence. They also found burglary tools and an unspecified amount of heroin.
A search of a nearby residence turned up more stolen copper.
Two local men were arrested. Greg Waldron, 33, is charged with possession of stolen items, possession of burglary tools and possession of heroin. Joshua Fleming, 32, is charged with receiving stolen goods.
