PROVIDENCE -- Calling his actions "shocking and unconscionable,'' a Superior Court judge sentenced Armando Garcia, of Pawtucket, to life in prison for stabbing and beating his girlfriend to death in June 2010 and leaving her 2-year old daughter with the body for 14 hours.
Judge Susan E. McGuirl also sentenced Garcia, 33, to additional 25 years in prison for being a habitual offender and 10 years for failing to report the death of Brooke Lee Verdoia, 30, and taking her sports utility vehicle after he murdered her.
`"You sat here expressionless through the entire hearing,'' McGuirl said. ``What you did Mr. Garcia is inhumane ... It was a cruel, vicious killing.''
He will spend at least 40 years in the Adult Correctional Institutions.
