PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- After climbing 28 cents in a month, gas prices in Rhode Island slipped by 3 cents over the past week, according to AAA Southern New England.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is now $3.799 at self-service pumps in the Ocean State, according to AAA's weekly survey.
On Friday, a survey by the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources put the average price at $3.80.
According to AAA, Rhode Island drivers are paying 5 cents more per gallon than the national average of $3.749. A year ago at this time, the average price in the Ocean State was $3.809.
AAA's survey found a 24-cent range, from a low of $3.679 to a high of $3.919.
