PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A man serving 50 years for a shooting last spring pleaded not guilty Monday to the murders of three people in Providence last summer.

Timothy "Beeper" Debritto, 27, walked into Superior Court Judge Robert D. Krause's courtroom with a swagger even noticed by the relatives of the victims. He glared at Special Assistant Attorney General James Baum and Providence Detective Robert Washburn.

The families of Shemeeka Barros, 22, her boyfriend, Michael Martin, 22, and their friend Damien Colon, 22, filled most of the courtroom benches. The relatives of Debritto and one of his alleged conspirators, Quandell Husband, 16, sat nearby.

The three were murdered July 30 in what police say was a botched robbery.

Husband and his friend Russell Burrell, 17, are being arraigned later Monday on charges of murder.
