PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A jury heard testimony from two Johnston firefighters, a battalion chief and a lieutenant on a rescue squad, Monday morning in the case of a 53-year old Johnston man accused of slaying his children's mother.
The firefighters described arriving at the family's home in January last year and encountering resistance from the defendant, Donald Greenslit, as they tried to ensure the safety of two children seen in an upstairs bedroom of the smoky house.
Both witnesses, Battalion Chief Ronald Castelli and Lt. Brian Elmasian, testified that Greenslit refused assistance, told them that everything was "fine" and also told them to leave the house.
Greenslit has been charged with murder, failure to report a death, obstruction of a firefighter in the death of Stacie DeSantis-Dorego, 39.
