PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Rhode Island Senate Tuesday confirmed the last seven members of the state's new Rhode Island Board of Education, charged with overseeing K-12 education and the state's three public colleges.
They are: lawyer Eva Marie Mancuso, who will serve as chairwoman; Karen L. Forbes, former vice-chairwoman of the North Kingstown School Committee; and Michael H. Bernstein, a board member of the Rhode Island Student Assistance Program.
Also confirmed are: Dr. Antonio Barajas, a physician at Kent Hospital; William C. Maaia, a lawyer and former labor relations officer with the state Department of Education; Jo Eva Gaines, vice-chairwoman of the Newport School Committee; and Patrick Guida, a lawyer and member of the Barrington School Committee.
