Downtown Providence is cluttered with signs on every street corner and lining every block, but a new one was spotted Monday. "No mugging? Wait, I have to take a picture of that," said parking enforcement officer Lorrie Prybyla, as she stood in front of a sign on Fulton Street, across from the Kennedy Plaza bus stops. The sign read "No Mugging here to corner." "How am I supposed to give out a ticket for no mugging?" she asked. Maybe that's one ticket we won't find on our windshield.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The city is not responsible for the signs, which are apparently a prank, said David Ortiz, spokesman for Mayor Taveras. Police Major Thomas Verdi said city parking administrator Leo Perrotta was having them removed.

Police estimate about 10 signs, made to look official, were posted around Kennedy Plaza.
