PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A fire in a three-story house at 42 Social St. sent two firefighters and a bystander to the hospital, Deputy Chief James Mirza said Thursday afternoon.
Mirza said the call came in at 2 minutes after noon, with heavy fire showing on the second and third floors.
Firefighters fought for an hour to control the flames that traveled through the walls, causing extensive damage to the second and third floors and a small attic space. The first floor had water damage.
The injured firefighters suffered exhaustion and cuts. A bystander had a medical issue, and all three were sent to the hospital.
No one was home at the time, Mirza said. Investigators are seeking the cause.
