PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Providence is marking St. Patrick's Day with its annual City Hall celebration.
Mayor Angel Taveras, Attorney General Peter Kilmartin and other city and state leaders are scheduled to attend the 1 p.m. event.
The pipes and drums squad of the Providence Police Department and dancers from the Goulding School of Irish Dance are set to perform.
The annual celebration is intended to honor the heritage of the thousands of Irish immigrants who made Providence home and the continuing influence that Irish-Americans have in Rhode Island and its largest city.
