PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- With table games coming to Twin River, the state Lottery has hired Providence Police Major Keith J. Tucker as its first "casino operations and compliance manager.''
Lottery director Gerald Aubin confirmed Friday that Tucker starts Monday in his new, $92,669 role.
Tucker has been the commanding officer of the investigative division of the Providence police department, where he oversaw over 100 officers, including the detective bureau, special victims unit, youth services bureau, gang unit, narcotics unit and gun task force.
Aubin, a former deputy police chief in Providence, said Tucker comes to his new job with a lot of integrity, ethics and respect in the law enforcement community.
Voters in November approved "state-operated'' casino gambling - and specifically previously banned table games - at the privately-owned, Twin River electronic slot parlor in Lincoln.
Aubin said Tucker will oversee a staff of about 30 Lottery employees involved in the new casino operation, including security managers and compliance officers.
