PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence resident Toni Lynn Bonadie got some good news Monday, after interviewing with Tunstall Americas for a job in their new call center that's moving to Pawtucket from Long Island.
Bonadie reacted emotionally during a Friday recruitment drive with the company when she realized that Tunstall's electronic health-care devices allow people with medical troubles to call for help with the press of a button. It was the same kind of device that saved her mother's life, Bonadie said through tears in a group setting as a company executive met with a dozen job seekers at a time, all morning long.
By Monday, human resources associate Barbara Conway told Bonadie she's in the company's next training class. Bonadie was thrilled.
"I was looking for a job that was going to be a home for me," Bonadie said Monday. "This is going to be a home for me. I just know it. I wanted some place to feel like I was really helping someone."
The company is offering 16 training slots in this round and has promised to hire 250 people over the next year.
