PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- House Speaker Gordon D. Fox and state General Treasurer Gina M. Raimondo will unveil legislation Thursday that they say will help spur economic growth and help improve Rhode Island's locally maintained roads and bridges.
The proposed "Municipal Road and Bridge Revolving Fund" will be administered by the Rhode Island Clean Water Finance Authority, which administers funds designated for local sewage and drinking water projects.
The two say the plan will Improve cities and towns access to capital at lower-rates for long-range planning and infrastructure investment and help create work for construction trades and their suppliers.
Fox and Raimondo will announce the plan with Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed and Dan Beardsley, executive director of the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns.
