PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A 16-year-old Providence boy is accused of stealing a car at gunpoint in Mount Pleasant Monday night.
Three young men approached as Melina Favalessa, 20, and her mother backed out of a driveway on Lynch Street at around 8:30 p.m. One boy pulled a gun and ordered the women out, and he drove away with the car alone, according to the police.
Two hours later, Patrolman Adam Chin saw the stolen white Nissan Sentra being driven through Smith Hill, said Commander Thomas F. Oates III.
As the boy pulled the car over, he tried to hide an Airsoft BB pistol under the driver's seat, Oates said.
The boy was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm by a minor, and driving without a license.
