HOPKINTON, R.I. -- Responding to an unfair labor practice charge by NEA Chariho, the Chariho Regional School District Committee issued a statement Tuesday calling on the union to waive a confidentiality agreement so the School Committee could publish the administration's budget proposal alongside the union's on the district's website.
"The Chariho Regional School District Committee will not engage in personal attacks,
intimidation tactics, mockery, and the distribution of misinformation," the statement said.
"The Committee believes that those who wish to make judgments and take action should do so with complete and accurate information. Thus, the Committee will post the current unfair labor charge and responses of the parties on the Chariho website at www.chariho.k12.ri.us."
At issue is the committee's decision to freeze step increases.
National Education Association members planned a 6 p.m. protest in front of the Chariho Regional High School library on Switch Road just before the 6:30 p.m. School Committee meeting in the Middle School auditorium, an NEA news release said. The next mediation session is set for Thursday, the release said.
