PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Chafee and two members of the Economic Development Corporation board met for three hours Tuesday behind closed doors with a team of lawyers that has been exploring potential state litigation in relation to Curt Schilling's failed 38 Studios.
Yet when the EDC's litigation subcommittee reconvened in open session, they voted to seal the minutes of the meeting and adjourned.
Governor Chafee told The Providence Journal that no votes had been taken -- action that state law would have required the subcommittee to announce in the public portion of the meeting.
It's unclear what may come next as the state considers whether there's any way to recoup some of the taxpayer losses after Schilling's video-game company filed for bankruptcy last spring. Another meeting date for the subcommittee has not been set, Chafee said.
