Christopher Young and Kara Russo protest in May 2011 after the civil unions bills passes in the House Judiciary Committee. Young shouted, "This is not a democracy," following the vote and was quickly escorted from the room by the Capitol Police.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Two years after proposing to Kara Russo during a live television debate, frequent candidate Christopher Young is scheduled to tie the knot with Russo in Narragansett on Sept. 8 -- three days before the Rhode Island primary.

Russo made the announcement -- and invited everyone to attend -- during a debate among Republican congressional candidates on the State of the State program taped Thursday night. Young was off-camera.

Russo is running in the Republican primary in the 2nd Congressional District. Young is running in the Democratic primary in the 1st District. They live in South Kingstown. (Congressional candidates can live in one district and run in another.)

Russo said the ceremony will be at St. Mary Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church on Point Judith Road.
