PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A Superior Court jury found Armando Garcia guilty of first-degree murder on Thursday for killing his girlfriend in Pawtucket two years ago.
The 12 jurors reached their verdict at 1:30, just minutes after they returned from their lunch break.
Testimony over more than a week produced overwhelming evidence that Garcia beat and stabbed Brooke Verdoia to death on the last weekend of June 2010.
Verdoia's mother found Brooke's bloodied body in bed. With her was her hungry grandaughter, Madison, then 2 years, 9 months old.
