PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island health officials say some of the frozen snack foods linked to an outbreak of E. coli that has sickened at least 24 people around the country may have been shipped to stores in the state as well as neighboring Massachusetts and Connecticut.

No one has died, but eight people, mostly kids or teens, were hospitalized after consuming frozen chicken quesadillas made by Buffalo, N.Y.-based Rich Products Corp.

An investigation detected E. coli in an open package of Farm Rich brand frozen chicken quesadillas at an ill person's home.

The company has recalled quesadillas, mozzarella bites and other frozen products made in November.

State health officials say the recalled products were distributed by Wal-Mart nationwide and may have been shipped to stores in southern New England.

Officials say some of the foods may be in household freezers.
