PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Peter M. Scotti, a longtime East Side resident and real-estate appraiser, spoke with Governor Chafee last week about the vacant leadership role at the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation.
But Scotti said Wednesday the two realized after a frank conversation that lasted about a half hour that his "qualifications really are not a particularly good fit for that position."
Chafee has been actively seeking an executive director to lead the EDC since William J. Parsons withdrew his name from consideration for the top post on Feb. 14. Chafee spokeswoman Christine Hunsinger said Wednesday she had no news on a nominee to lead the state agency charged with creating and retaining jobs.
Meanwhile, Scotti said he had applied months ago for another top economic leadership role in the state but did not get an interview for the executive director position of the Route 195 Redevelopment District Commission, a post for which he believes he was well-qualified.
