PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- AS220's youth program has been named a finalist for the 2012 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.
This award is the nation's highest honor for out-of-school arts and humanities programs. Youth from the AS220 program will travel to Washington, D.C., Nov. 19 to attend a ceremony hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama, which is when they will find out if they are one of 12 award winners.
AS220 Youth is an arts education program that serves young people ages 14-21 with a focus on those in the care and custody of the state. AS220 has offered arts programs at the Rhode Island Training School since 1998.
