PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island's tax collection office says its main customer service line is working again after going down amid heavy call volume a week before the tax filing deadline.
The Division of Taxation said Monday the line has been fixed after experiencing sporadic outages during the morning and early afternoon.
Tax Administrator David Sullivan says the division's outside telephone provider dispatched a crew and fixed the problem in a timely manner but that he regrets any inconvenience.
Taxpayers can call the line with questions on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The number is at (401) 574-8829.
Federal and state income tax returns are due on April 15.
