NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A woman working at Larry's Lounge on Smith Street told police an intruder entered the bar while she was cleaning up after hours on April 4 and, putting her in a headlock, forced her into a back office and demanded money.
Jan Creelman said the man also demanded the bar's surveillance video, but she told him it was broken. She said that once she realized she couldn't break free, she began making "small talk" and persuaded him back to the bar to have a drink.
She said the man eventually apologized, saying he needed the money for his son and "just snapped." He left without the money. Creelman said she delayed reporting it to police because the man threatened her life if she did.
