SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- The man who was being sought by University of Rhode Island police after he was seen on a URI library surveillance video talking on the phone and in seeming distress has been found.
URI said the man -- who is not a student -- went to the URI police on Tuesday after his girlfriend noticed his picture on a website. He said he is a writer and went to the library on Friday to work on a new book. He apologized to police for causing any concern in the community.
Police don't think he had any connection to the incident at the Chafee Social Science Center when people mistakenly believed that there was a man in the area carrying a gun.
