PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Mayor Angel Taveras took in a different view of the city on Thursday morning when he met with developers who've been renovating industrial buildings along West Exchange Street.
The Omni Group paid $1.6 million in mid-February for 2 Fox Place and five other properties that once made up the C.J. Fox Co. complex. Omni will raze some structures and will convert others to offices. They will spend $5 million on that work. The building, with its trademark Fox Co. painted logo is visible from Route 95. Omni owns nine other buildings in the area.
"It's a symbol of hope," Taveras said of the renovation.
The building's windows afford views of the State House -- a place Taveras would like to occupy as governor.
