PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The state Supreme Court Friday put to an end a lawsuit brought by a former state prosecutor alleging she experienced a pattern of discrimination while working for the attorney general's office under Patrick Lynch.
The high court found that Dawn Huntley was barred from pursuing the lawsuit in state court because a near identical action was dismissed in federal court after Huntley failed to respond to a motion to dismiss.
The decision voids a ruling by Superior Court Presiding Justice Alice Gibney that the lawsuit should stand because the state did not prove the dismissal of the federal lawsuit was a final judgment.
Huntley alleged she experienced systemic discrimination, offensive comments regarding her sex and race, and was denied job promotions and pay raises.
