FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) -- Massachusetts State Police have responded in force since two explosions killed three and injured more than 170 at the Boston Marathon's finish line.
A department spokesman said more than 100 state troopers are expected to augment security in Boston on Wednesday, a day after 160 troopers patrolled within the city.
That number included troopers deployed to MBTA stations to complement Transit Police, as well as troopers deployed at every hospital in the city, as well as Faneuil Hall, the Statehouse, and the North End.
Another 75 troopers patrolled at Logan International Airport.
On the investigative side, state police have assigned 118 detectives to assist federal and city law enforcement agencies.
